We are thrilled to announce Bill Sinclair, President & CEO of The Neighbourhood Group has received the Social Planning Toronto, 2021 Frances Lankin, Lifetime Achievement Award for Community Service.

Bill has worked in the non-profit sector for the past 34 years in multi-service neighbourhood centres that create opportunities to improve the lives of low-income children, youth, seniors, newcomers to Canada, and people who are homeless.

Bill believes strongly in collaboration, advocacy, and in progressive social change. Bill has a proven track record of effectively addressing issues of poverty, homelessness, and social inequity for the most vulnerable people in our city. He has driven the development of ground-breaking, innovative service delivery in supportive housing, harm reduction, newcomer partnerships, youth services, and trusteeships of grass roots organizations and networks.

St. Stephen’s Youth Drop-in serves as our city’s preferred model with a barrier-free approach that includes youth justice, conflict resolution and an integrated model of health care. Bill led the fight and mobilized community support to open and keep open an overdose prevention site in Kensington Market in response to the rising crisis in our city. As a leader in Decent Work advocacy, Bill has positioned decent work as a vital part of the sector’s anti-poverty efforts. He is a founder of such groups as Horizons for Youth Shelter, Toronto Homeless Drop-in Network, and the Toronto South Local Immigration Partnership, and is an eager participant in Toronto Neighbourhood Centres.
